Communication is key… or whatever motivational quote people are throwing around these days. But honestly, if you’re trying to make any real money, you’re gonna need to master messages. Because, spoiler alert, responding to messages and keeping that connection with your fans alive? That’s where your cash flow is hiding. It’s the bread to your butter, the Netflix to your chill—uh, you catch my drift.
So, we are going to take you through a quick tour of what all the little icons and messages mean in your messages.
How to Get to Messages
Alright, so it’s pretty important to know how to get to your messages. We’ve covered this in a few other posts, but let’s give you a quick refresher.
Step 1 of 1: Click on the envelope icon in the top right corner of your screen.
Congratulations, you’re in your messages.
What do all these icons mean?
Click on any message on the left side of the screen, and the thread with that fan will pop up on the right.
Beneath the text box, you’ll see a few handy icons. Let’s break down what each one does:
- The Picture Icon: Click this if you want to add media straight from your computer instead of your cloud.
- The LoyalFans Logo: This one with the cloud lets you pull media directly from your LoyalFans Media Cloud.
- The Microphone: Use this to record an audio message on the spot, instead of sending a pre-recorded one.
- The Lock: This is the important one! The lock lets you set a price for locked content. After adding media (either from your hard drive or cloud), just click the lock, set your price, and you’re good to go. If you want to lock a text, type your message, hit the lock, and set your price.
How to Look at Fan Stats, Notes, and Sent Media
If you’re going to keep track of your fans and their spending habits (because, hello, that’s important), you need to know how to get a quick breakdown of each one. Here’s how you do that:
- Click on the message thread with the fan, then hit the little green “i” icon in the top right corner.
This will open up a handy info and action box with:
- The fan’s username
- A link to their profile
- A button to check out their stats
- The option to rename them
- And a mute button (just in case you need a break)
- Scroll down a bit, and you’ll see their messaging fees—so you know what they’re paying.
- Under all that, you’ll have an action list. This is where you can mute, block, rename, delete the conversation, or just go full “goodbye” and block them entirely.
- Have something to remember about this fan? Click the arrow next to “Notes,” and a yellow box will pop up where you can jot down your own private notes. (Don’t worry, they can’t see this and, unlike OnlyFans, you can write down as much as you want–there’s no character limit.)
- There’s also an arrow next to “Groups,” and if you click it, you can add the fan to an existing group or create a whole new one.
- And finally, click on ‘Media Files’ to pull up a pop-up showing all the media they’ve sent to you or that you’ve sent to them.
As you can see, any media the fan has unlocked will have a green lock that’s open at the top right corner. If a message was sent for free, there will be no lock. If a message was locked (and never unlocked), there will be a gray lock instead of green.
Finding Out How Much a Fan has Spent
To see how much a fan has spent, stay in the same info box and click “Stats.” This magical Stats section will show you so much good stuff!
Look at this gorgeous info! How much a fan has spent overall, check! What they’ve spent it on, check! When they’ve spent it, check! When they joined, check! This info can help you plan new content, upcoming promos, and whatever else your little planning heart (if you have a planning heart, for you chaos demons, ignore this) desires.
Now that you’ve got the scoop on those message icons and all the fancy little features, you’re officially ready to dig into messaging. Time to start building those fan connections—and hey, making a little cash while you’re at it doesn’t hurt either.
