Blocking vs. Restricting on OnlyFans

At some point, most creators get a fan who starts testing the limits of your patience.

Maybe they’re rude. Maybe they keep pushing after you’ve already said no. Maybe they’ve somehow turned a basic subscription into a full-time customer service position you did not apply for.

That’s where restricting and blocking come in.

They sound pretty similar, but they actually do different things, and knowing which one to use can save you a lot of unnecessary back-and-forth.

What Happens When You Restrict Someone?

Restricting is the softer option.

A restricted fan can still access your profile and view the content they’re entitled to see, but they can no longer message you or comment on your posts.

This is useful for someone who is annoying, demanding, rude, or keeps pushing boundaries, but doesn’t necessarily need to be completely removed.

Basically: they can stay, but they lose inbox privileges.

What Happens When You Block Someone?

Blocking is the full cutoff.

A blocked fan can no longer access your profile, view your content, message you, or interact with your account from that profile.

Blocking makes more sense for things like:

  • Harassment
  • Threats
  • Repeated serious boundary violations
  • Suspicious behavior
  • Someone you simply do not want accessing your page anymore

Restricting says, “You can look, but you can’t talk to me.”

Blocking says, “You’re out.”

What About Their Subscription?

This is where things can get a little messy.

OnlyFans’ handling of blocked subscribers has changed over time, and older advice online is often contradictory. Blocking does not necessarily mean an automatic refund, but refunds can still happen depending on the situation.

If someone is just being irritating rather than unsafe, restricting can sometimes be the simpler option because they keep access to the subscription while losing the ability to contact you.

When Should You Use Each One?

Use restrict when the problem is interaction.

Use block when the problem is access.

And if someone is threatening, harassing, stalking, or otherwise making you feel unsafe, blocking and reporting them is the better move.

The easiest way to remember it is:

Restrict = they can still see your page, but they can’t interact with you.

Block = they lose access completely.

You don’t have to keep entertaining someone just because they subscribed. If a fan is becoming a headache, use the tool that fits the situation and keep your page feeling like your business, not an unpaid conflict-resolution seminar.
