Why You Can’t Talk About Going Off-Site on a Fan Site

It might seem harmless. A fan asks, “Can I get your number?” or says they want to pay you through another app. But here’s the deal: talking about going off-site on fan platforms is a huge risk, and it can get you (meaning: not just your page, but you as a creator) permanently banned.

Even if your intentions are good, even if the fan seems trustworthy, even if it’s “just this once”—it’s not worth it.

Why You Can’t Mention Off-Site Communication

It violates the Terms of Service.
Almost every fan platform has strict rules against sharing contact info, offering to chat on other sites, or directing traffic off-platform. The minute you mention another app, email, or site, you’re putting your account at risk.

It flags your messages.
Platforms often use auto-flagging to scan messages for suspicious terms. Say something like “cashapp” or “snapchat” and your message might never even be delivered. Worse, enough flags can trigger human audits of your message or an outright ban.

There’s no protection off-site.
When you keep transactions on the platform, there’s a record. If a fan tries to scam or chargeback, support can help you. The moment you go off-site, that safety net disappears. For both you and the fan.

It opens the door to scams.
If someone insists on paying off-site, it’s a red flag. Fans who are legit and respectful will follow the platform rules. The ones who won’t? Often not worth your time or energy.

But what if you do offer services off-site?

If you offer meetups, escorting, or off-platform content, take those conversations completely off the fan site. Ask them to email you or reach out through a third-party form, but do not talk about it on the platform. You can lose your page over one message.

How to Handle Requests to Go Off-Site:

  • Keep it simple. “Sorry babe, I only chat and sell content here so we both stay safe.”
  • Redirect the conversation back to your content or tip options on the platform.
  • If they keep pushing, it’s okay to block or report. Protecting your account comes first.

You’ve worked hard to build your fanbase. Don’t risk it for a quick buck or a sketchy shortcut. Stick to the rules, keep things safe, and remind fans that you’re running a real business, not just winging it in the DMs.

Staying on-platform keeps your account secure, your money traceable, and your work respected.
