How to Think About Pricing Content

Pricing your content can feel a little awkward at first. You don’t want to scare fans off, but you also don’t want to undersell yourself. Finding that sweet spot is part business strategy, part intuition, and part learning from what works for your audience.

Whether you’re just starting out or re-evaluating your current prices, here’s how to approach pricing your content with confidence.

Know Your Value

You’re not just selling a photo or a video. You’re offering access, fantasy, effort, creativity, and your time. That’s worth more than the cost of a latte. So start by checking in with yourself: what feels fair for the energy you put into your content? If you wouldn’t feel good about getting that amount for a custom or PPV, raise the price.

Consider the Type of Content

Some content is quick and easy. Other content takes hours to shoot, edit, and prep. Factor that in. A simple pic might go for $5, while a detailed custom or long video could be priced higher. Try grouping content into tiers based on effort, uniqueness, or popularity.

Watch What Sells

If your $20 PPVs always go unopened, it might be worth testing a $15 price point. On the flip side, if your customs are flying off the shelves at $40, try $50 next time. Your fans are giving you feedback with their wallets. Pay attention to the patterns and adjust when needed, but also be sure to communicate any price change to your fans ahead of time.

Don’t Apologize for Charging

Never feel guilty for putting a price on your work. This is your literal business. If someone wants everything for free or haggles over a few bucks, they’re probably not your ideal supporter anyway. You’re not obligated to please everyone. You’re here to grow something sustainable.

Add Value Without Dropping Price

You don’t have to discount to make sales. Instead, offer bundle deals, early access, or add a little bonus like a thank-you selfie for tips over a certain amount. Make fans feel like they’re getting more while still honoring your worth.

Offer Coupons or Sub Discounts Strategically

If you’re feeling generous or want to show love to loyal subs, use platform tools like monthly discount codes or limited-time coupon links. This is especially useful during holidays, when you hit milestones, or when you just want to boost engagement for a slower week. Fans love feeling like they’re getting a deal, and this lets you reward support without undervaluing your work.

Your prices are a reflection of your boundaries, your effort, and your goals. Don’t be afraid to adjust things as you learn what works. Just remember to lead with confidence. The fans who get it will show up, support you, and happily pay for what you create.
