Here at BonerGhosts, we’re a big fan of checklists. (Partially because at least half of us have ADHD.) Every fan site has a different set of things you should do to set yourself up for success… or at least avoid abject failure. This is, to our eyes, the best way to set up your Fansly. At the end, we’ll link you to a PDF checklist for you to print that won’t have our running commentary all over it.
Step One: Mirror Your OnlyFans
If you’re setting up a Fansly, we’re assuming it’s because you either want to diversify your income streams or you’re sick of OnlyFans’ shit. (We are too, trust us.) Anyway, most creators start at OnlyFans. Whether you’re planning on eventually closing your OnlyFans or running it along with your new Fansly, you should mirror your OnlyFans (unless you are going in an entirely different brand direction).
Why? Because fans migrate back and forth and because there’s a decent chance that someone might steal your content from wherever you’re promoing and then set up a Fansly page using your pictures. You want your fans, should they find you on your new Fansly, to know as best they can that it’s you.
Checklist Item #1: Set your name to be the same as your OnlyFans. Not just your display name, but the account name–assuming you can. If yours is already taken, that sucks, go for something close to it.
Checklist Item #2: Set your profile pic to be the same as your OnlyFans profile pic.
Checklist Item #3: Set your banner image to be the same as your OnlyFans banner image. The OnlyFans banner image is 1168 x 204 pixels (desktop) and so is Fansly’s, so you should be good to straight upload.
Checklist Item #4: Fill out your profile. Unless your Fansly page is going to be radically different than your OnlyFans page, copy and paste the profile over. Again, you need consistency, especially if you want to move your OnlyFans subscribers over at some point.
Step Two: Specific Fansly Profile Stuff
Checklist Item #5: Select your tags. There’s a button for this on your profile page, on the right and under the banner. It literally says “Tags.” Click what applies to you, then ignore this forever.
Step Three: Tiers, My God, the Tiers
Are Fansly tiers a blessing or a curse? A blurse? Whatever they are, you need to set them up and you need to do it right or it’s going to be a nightmare.
Before we checklist, ask yourself: how much free time do I have to devote specifically to running my Fansly? If it’s minimal, set one tier and move on. If you’re planning on making Fansly your main page and running it full time, you have time for multiple tiers. (If you’re wondering what tiers are and/or what tiers you should have, go here.) Note: if you are trying to figure out what you want to do with your Fansly, set a standard subscriber tier (call it whatever you want), match the price to your OnlyFans subscription fee, and call it a day. You can add other tiers later.
Checklist Item #6: Set up your tiers and fill out the perks. (We will have a post on how to do this properly soon.)
Step Four: Small Things You Should Do That Most People Don’t Do and That’s Not Great for Them
Go to the Plans/Promo page. Here is a direct link.

Checklist Item #7: Make sure the two buttons above are on. You can message followers, you can send locked PPV to followers, you can send sub sale promos to followers. This is good. This is your marketing list. Let people follow you.
HOWEVER
Only let people follow you if they have a payment method AKA have given Fansly their payment info, as that indicates a desire to buy. If someone doesn’t have their payment method set up, they’re not able to buy and you don’t need to spend two hours of your life haggling with them to set up a payment method.
Checklist Item #8: Set your subscription bundle prices, if you do subscription bundles (meaning that if someone subscribes for multiple months, they get a discount). That is also on this Plans/Promos page, below your Active Subscription Tiers, where it says “Edit Subscription Tier.” When you click on that, you’ll get a pop-up. Click on “Plans/Pricing” on the upper left of the pop-up and you’ll be able to add bundles.

This is an example of possible bundles. You do not have to do bundles, you do not need to do bundles at this rate. But this is what a bundle can look like.
Now go to the Creator Messages page. No, not your messages, but the Messages page. Yes, this is confusing. Here’s a direct link. You’re welcome.
Checklist Item #9: Set your DM permissions. The way this is worded, like much of the stuff on this site, is balls.

You’re basically reading this as “if someone fills a certain condition” they can message you. In the example above, they are set to: “Subscribed” OR “Price Per Message $1 & Following” OR “Price Per Message $3.” Which, for normal humans, translates to: “if someone is subscribed” OR “if someone is following and paying $1 per message” OR “someone can pay $3 per message if they are not following or subscribed.” This covers your subscribers, your followers, and your lurkers. Set the prices that make sense to you. If you have multiple tiers, you can set message permissions by tier.
Checklist Item #10: Set your automated messages. In the image above, at the top, you can see the “Automated Messages” tab. Go there and set up your welcome message or messages. It’s more of the same wording:

What this translates to is if someone subscribes (that’s the Message Trigger selected, but there are many other options on that dropdown) then they immediately get the welcome message (as no sent delay is set).
Sent Delay is when it is sent in relation to the trigger–unfortunately it can only be set in seconds, so basically you can set this to send 30 seconds after someone new subscribes. Which seems to be a useless function, but here we are.)
Cooldown is how long Fansly needs to wait before sending the same message again. Since one of the triggers is an automated message when someone tips (WHY?!), you’ll need to set a cooldown. Again, it’s in seconds so… be careful.
Checklist Item #11: Turn on your two-factor authentication in the account section. If you are the only person running your account, there is zero reason why this should not be on. Don’t put a ton of work in and get hacked!
Step Five: The Last Thing to Do
Checklist Item #12: Populate your vault. You can get there through the Creator Dashboard (again, I ask WHY?!) or go straight in through this direct link. We’ll have an article about best vault practices eventually but, in the meantime, do what you do.
And that’s it. You set it up. Now you have to learn how to use Fansly without tearing your hair out. It’s a whole deal and we hate it, but we work with what we’ve got… and what we’ve got is a site that needs a UX designer immediately. Also, here is the PDF checklist like we promised.
